Lease Ride Dec. 9th - Training Journal Entry #8
Sindri was very good today. He definitely thought he had a snow day, and he was very sleepy when I got him from the pasture.
We warmed up on a loose rein walk trot, going over some of the poles, doing figure 8s, and circles, avoiding the super muddy spots. I worked a lot on my position, and not crossing my hand over his neck, and I could feel the difference in how he rode.
We cantered left lead first and went up the long side, circled at the top of the ring, and then walked. We did the same thing on the right lead, and he picked up his lead first try!
We did work a little bit on the exercise from Monday because when we worked on it on Monday, we didn't get to re-try the exercise after we worked on fixing my position to help him, so I just wanted to do it well once today.
After we did the serpentines well I let him first trot then canter over the outside line, and the first time he wanted to have some fun, go fast, and get a wonky stride. The second time we did it he focused and did it really well so I let him be done on that. I think the first time we went through he was like "wheee we're doing fun things" and the the second time "okay now I have to focus and show her how good I can be"

We kept our ride on the shorter side as it was cold out and he was very good!
