Lesson Feb. 4th 2026 Training Journal Entry #24

We had a very wet lesson, the ring was wet and it was raining.

We warmed up walk and trot, the ring wasn't quite good enough to canter in, so we did a lot of trotting. I started by letting Sindri trot on a long rein so he could stretch, and get a feel for the very squishy footing. We did lots of circles, and changes of direction before I started to pick up contact. we trotted on contact for a bit and a couple of times in our circles he wanted to stretch down so I was happy about that.

Once we had warmed up we started making courses. We got to be guinea pigs, because Jenna hadn't even set up courses yet, so she set up some jumps and poles around the ring, and we each got to create a course.

Our first course went pretty good, half was just set as poles and the other half was big xrails. one of the poles that was set up on the outside with jump standards, had 4 poles put together but he didn't really care about that. Sindri enjoyed cantering out of the cross rails, so we cantered a couple of lines but came back down to the trot after each of them.

Our second course is definitely the most complicated out of the 4 courses, there are some tight bending lines and we have to pretty much start thinking about our turn mid jump but he did really well with it!

In our 3rd our courses he got a little strong coming into the 4 poles put together and launched it after he had already trotted over it perfectly.

πŸ˜‚

Our last course had the best moments in it he trotted out of the first cross rail in the line but cantered out of the second one really nicely, I think it was our best line.

He also gave me the nicest trot coming to the last pole with such a good headset...
😍😍

Overall it was a really good lesson and even though we couldn't really canter or practice 2ft it was really good for both of us!

I was also thinking if you are coming out to the show let me know, and I can let you know how timing is so that your not stuck at the show all day againπŸ˜…
