March 4th 2026 Lesson Training Journal Entry #26

We worked on dressage in our lesson, preparing for the CT in two weeks, we did both the Intro A test for the green as grass level and the Starter A test.

We started by warming up at the walk doing 2-point and vertical position. When we trotted we worked on circles, and trying to get them to stretch a bit before we started the dressage. we warmed up at the canter, starting to the right, picking up canter at A and cantering up the long side and trotting again at C we did the same thing to the left, he actually picked up the wrong lead once or twice before doing it nicely.

We started with the green as grass test first, our transitions were a little bit rocky and he was a bit high headed but it was a solid test. We did the starter test twice, the first time was pretty good, we missed our lead in the first transition but i didn't set him up properly either. the second test he was more willing to relax into a frame in our trot circles, and we got both leads first try. The starter test definitely had his attention more than the green as grass test did, he waited for me to tell him when to do something whereas in the green as grass test he wanted to do his own thing.

Our homework was to work on our transitions, mostly our downward transitions because he would lose his frame and brace in the transitions.
